Following the success of “Rangoli… Colours of Bharatanatyam” in 2009, Sanskruti School of Dance presented its second home production “The Ramayana” which was accompanied by live Carnatic music and featured dramaturgy expertise from Lanyt Theatre. The Ramayana in Bharatanatyam style unfolds the Indian epic exploring issues that resonate in our lives here and now. The epic’s main characters Rama and his wife Sita lived their lives by the rules of dharma or righteousness.
The Ramayana continues to be a global source of spiritual, cultural and artistic inspiration. It is the immortal tale of Rama and Sita that reflects upon the values of ideology, devotion, duty and relationships.
The recital was held on Saturday, 28th April, 2012 at the Atrium Hall, Netherhall School, Cambridge and was graced by the presence of the Mayor, Councillor Ian Nimmo-Smith. The event was supported by Cambridge City Council Arts and Entertainment and took place on 28th April 2012.
